Amos Murray
My name is Amos Murray, and before anything else, I'm a husband and father. My family is the foundation of everything I do, and they've supported me through every challenge and adventure that has shaped my life.
I've always been drawn to pursuits that demand resilience, problem-solving, and continual growth. I served in the U.S. Army before being medically retired, and as a kidney transplant recipient, I've learned firsthand that limitations don't have to define what's possible. Those experiences have given me a deep appreciation for perseverance and have fueled my pursuit of becoming a world-class competitive dry tooling athlete.
What first captivated me about competitive dry tooling wasn't just the challenge—it was watching how competition continually pushed the boundaries of what was possible. Every new technique, piece of equipment, and training innovation expanded not only athletic performance but also access to bigger objectives in the mountains. Innovation has always been one of the driving forces behind exploration.
That mindset is what eventually led me to Furnace Industries. As an athlete, I'm constantly analyzing movement, experimenting with new training methods, and thinking about how equipment can be refined to help climbers improve. I naturally gravitate toward engineering solutions, creating new ideas, and asking, "How could this be better?" When I discovered what Furnace Industries had already built, I immediately recognized a company that shared those same values.
More than the products themselves, I was drawn to the people behind them and the community they've helped foster. Dry tooling and mixed climbing attract individuals who value curiosity, creativity, grit, and a willingness to challenge themselves—qualities I deeply admire and strive to embody.
My goal isn't simply to continue building exceptional training equipment. It's to honor what Furnace Industries has created while continuing to innovate, expand access to our sport, and support the incredible community that makes it so special. Whether you're training for your first competition, preparing for a major alpine objective, or simply looking to become a stronger climber, I hope Furnace Industries can play a small part in helping you reach your next goal.
At Furnace Industries, we are committed to promoting drytooling, ice, and mixed climbing, supporting and building the drytooling and ice climbing community, and educating climbers to conserve the climbing environment.
